Posted in Uncategorized on December 27, 2009 by shelovestobake

Christmas period have been busy busy busy…
but i am HAPPY :)

Christmas to me, is pass the time where it’s all just about the presents.
Christmas to me NOW, is more about meeting up with my loved ones and gathering with friends.
Although not many presents were exchanged or even no presents were exchanged, I felt that I was happier this year.

Maybe it was also due to the many positive feedbacks from the cakes I have sold to my friends.
Thank you all so much for not only supporting me throughout but also giving me honest feedbacks so that I am able to improve :D

The long awaited post…

Posted in Uncategorized on October 18, 2009 by shelovestobake

I think it’s kinda sad when I look at when was my last post dated…
It’s been close to 2 months since I last posted!
The new semester marks my 2nd year in uni and it sure is getting tougher.
Workload piling high… and exams and tests almost every week!
I sure would like a break…

Anway, it has also been awhile since I last baked anything.
Orders has not been coming in til lately…

First up – The Birthday edition!

The new and improved, Chocolate Swirl Oreo Cheesecake. As you can see this looks vastly different from the version I made for my brother’s birthday (mentioned in the previous post). Same great taste but I’ve worked on the appearance of my cakes :)

And as usual, I made some extra cupcakes…

Feedback from my friends were that the cheese wasn’t overpowering so those who are not a great fan of cheese… NO WORRIES! :D They also loved the oreo and chocolate swirl in the cheesecakes, the former tasted like chocolate ice cream added into the cheesecakes!

I also baked a Strawberry Cheesecake for Francene’s birthday! – She’s my number one supporter! Always giving me opportunities :D thank you so much Francene! Francene’s also a strawberry lover thus…

This is also the new and improved version of the strawberry cheesecake I made previously. Looking at the first photo, it does make a good halloween cake doesn’t it? haha… Don’t worry no real blood was used, only home made strawberry sauce! :D
As for the 2nd photo, I do regret a little for sprinkling the digestive biscuit crumbs on top of the cake. Made it look like chicken floss sprinkled on a sweet dessert. Imagine the taste of that!

Next up! Birthday Brownies for my friend – Melanie

And finally the Deepavali special…

It’s been really long since I baked cookies and am very happy to get great feedback for these! These cookies were very Chocolatey and soft on the inside! A sure hit with chocolate cookie loving guests :)

And this is what I’ve been up to for the past few weeks… Hope you all enjoyed the photos and the bakes for those of you who have tried them. Please feel free to leave your comments and feedbacks so that I can improve more! :D I’ll be more than happy to hear from you all! :)

Hope I’ll be posting here more often… till next time!

Baking and the flu bug…

Posted in Uncategorized on July 22, 2009 by shelovestobake

Hello all!

Haven’t been posting as I have fallen ill and thus haven’t been baking recently.

The flu virus is floating around in the air… plus the rising cases of H1N1, I guess everyone is feeling abit paranoid when someone sneezes or cough. Well, that is at least for me. After an incident that scared ‘the hell out of me’ at the end of last month, I bought Dettol hand sanitizer for everyone in the family. But oh well, sometimes the more you try to prevent something from happening, the more it happens to you.

I caught the flu bug which had me lying on my bed for close to a week. You may say one week does not seem to affect things much BUT that one week happens to coincide with my mother’s and bff’s birthday. So both of them spent their birthdays without my baked cakes. :( I’m so sorry! Does feel a bit disappointing ain’t it? Have been baking for friends’ birthdays and all but not for the birthdays of the closest people in my life. Oh well, I hope I can make it up to them soon!

Anyway, I managed to recover just before my brother’s birthday and just in time to prepare a cake for his party. Felt so excited just by the thought that so many people will be eating my cake! Was feeling quite nervous too and I couldn’t think of what to bake until my bro said he wanted Oreo Cheesecake.

So Viola…

Bro's Oreo Cheesecake

Gathered quite good reviews and am quite happy with the decorating too :D

Again this marks the end of the July Babies celebration….

Once again, Happy Birthday to my dearest Mummy, Xin and Bro!

and to all out there under the attack of the flu bug… Get Well Soon!

Love!

Hey people,

I am here to update again :) It’s been quite some time where you’ll see me blogging twice or more in a month huh? haha…

Well… I am quite excited to blog actually cause I made something new! Cupcakes which requires something that I haven’t been putting in my cakes for quite some time cause my cakes tend to always fail when I use it. The one ingredient that I have a love-hate relationship with…

CHOCOLATE.

I didn’t know June is a month filled with birthdays till I met the bunch of friends I have now. Usually, I only get super busy in July… Bff and her mom’s birthday, my mom and brother’s birthday… and they’re all important people in my life.

Well going back to my cupcakes. (pardon me as I often “jump thoughts”) I made them specially for my friend – Qing Ling’s birthday. A sweet friend of mine who just stays a few blocks away from mine. I only realised it was her birthday on the night before, thanks to facebook.

Here are some photos before I go on with my long-winded stories….

Really pretty ain’t it? Looking at them just makes me feel so happy! ( I hope it does the same to you to Qing Ling ;) )

The cupcakes’ chocolaty flavor was really rich! Plus the nutella that I added… I believe this would definitely be a hit with chocolate lovers! :)

Anyway… I haven’t thought of a name for the cupcakes yet… why don’t you guys out there help me with it? Feel free to leave your comments! :)

I’ve thought of some names though… what about New york nutella cupcakes? cause the cherries simply reminds me of a really juicy and big red apple and the chocolate stick kinda look like a “high-rise building” eh? New York City is also called The Big Apple ya? But then I also feel it looks like some cocktail drink, doesn’t it? ;)

I hope you guys enjoyed the photos, I did put even more effort in my photography this time. right yh? haha…

Strawberry Cheesecake

Posted in Uncategorized on June 5, 2009 by shelovestobake

Hello people!

It’s been a long time since I last tried out something new

because it is really depressing to see your cake not turning out right after putting in so much effort.

secondly, because I lack guinea pigs. haha…

so I’ve been recommending friends, the cake that I bake frequently.

Anyway… thanks to xiao ying, I baked something new today! :)

Strawberry Cheesecake turned out really pretty…

Strawberry Cheesecake

As this was the first time baking strawberry cheesecake, I went away worrying about the taste.

I am not a great fan of the strawberry taste-wise cause I always ate strawberries that were sour. Some say strawberries taste sweet and I always gave them a look of… huh?

However, I still love how pretty they look! Strawberries really add a touch of class and cuteness to the cakes.

Anyway, I think I worried too much about the taste cause it didn’t taste too sour at all! my friends actually loved it. phew~

Happy Birthday Xiao ying! :)

I took some ‘artistic’ photos for viewing pleasure. enjoy!

It’s the holidays finally!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 30, 2009 by shelovestobake

Well, actually my holidays started about a week ago…
I have been procrastinating to blog here as usual, not that my passion for baking has decreased but more of feeling I am not good with words. often times, I do not know what to write here.

Anyway… the last week of school has been fulfilling. one of my friend decided to lend me some support by ordering a birthday cake for a friend of hers. Her request was bake something with dark chocolate because her friend is afraid to get fat. hahaha…that’s very cute cause desserts are fattening no matter what. anyway I decide to bake her the Boston Cream Pie.

Boston Cream Pie (smaller)

Boston Cream Pie (smaller)

This is a smaller cake compared to the one on the previous post. Pretty isn’t it? :) The chocolate ganache is left to drip at the sides to create a really chocolatey fountain effect. Not only does the cake look good, it taste delicious too! My friend said that it wasn’t too sweet and they couldn’t stop eating it. I am glad my friend and the birthday girl loved the cake. I hope my cakes have the ability to make your special day even more special :)

And a few valuable lessons I have learnt. No news does not always mean good news.

Here’s the new and improved Maltesers cupcakes!

I should hire my brother as some “creative director”. the added strawberry ‘leaves’ really gave my maltesers cupcakes a different feeling. i think it looks classier, doesn’t it? :)
I am actually selling the bakes I have put up on my blog. so feel free to leave a comment if you’re interested and I’ll get back to you shortly.
The Improved Maltesers Cupcakes cost $12 for a box of 6. It comes in a nice packaging shown below.
