Strawberry Shortcake

Posted in Uncategorized on February 22, 2011 by shelovestobake

I have a very close friend who just can’t get enough of Strawberry Shortcake!

As the best friend you can ever find in the whole Universe (I hear someone puking XD ), I tried baking different versions of Strawberry Shortcakes and also coming up with my own inventions.

This is a variation of the recipe I got from Just Desserts (by Daniel Tay, Ceo of Bakerzin).
I made them mini instead of the normal cake size and also decorated it my style – simple. 🙂

Mini Strawberry Shortcake

The strawberries looks really luscious here and the cream reminds me of snow!
These are melt in your mouth kind of cakes and it left my close friend smiling 🙂

I’ve been a lazy girl when it comes to blogging…

It’s been months since my last post! my apologies to those who have been frequenting my blog.
She Loves to Bake still loves to bake although i haven’t been posting k 🙂

To prove my point, here’s what I’ve been up to for the past few months:

Green Tea Chocolate cupcakes

These Green Tea Chocolate cupcakes are my new creation! Look how these beauties rise up so nicely! I especially like the texture of these cupcakes, its abit chewy and not dry at all! I found the chocolate a tad too overpowering though. Next time I shall try Green Tea cupcakes without the chocolate 🙂

Bailey's Cupcakes

I had some leftover Bailey’s after making tiramisu the other day and so out came these super aromatic Bailey’s cupcakes! The aroma of the Bailey’s filled my whole house when I baked these and my alcohol loving friends loved the cupcakes!

Next up was a special order from a friend and loyal customer of mine 🙂 She wanted a volleyball themed cupcake for her boyfriend’s 22nd birthday. So ta da…

What do you think? Some of my friends thought it looked like Netballs though.haha..

Nutella Brownie Cupcakes (Special)

Nutella Brownie Cupcakes (Happy B'day)

These Nutella Brownie Cupcakes were made specially for one of my closest friend in the world! haha… I found out that there are really many ways you can decorate these super chocolatey cupcakes. The strawberries add a tinge of sour to the sweet cupcakes 😀

Lastly, I also baked a Strawberry Cheesecake:

Strawberry Cheesecake

I love how the Strawberry Sauce drizzles down the cake! 😀

That’s all! I haven’t been lazy when it comes to baking right? Just been lazy when it comes to blogging..hahaha.

There’s still 5 days to Christmas… Have you thought of what to get your loved ones yet? Or are you going to a party and do not want to go empty handed? There’s still time to place your orders here! Take a look at what I’ve baked last Christmas and feel free to leave me a comment or email me at shelovestobake@gmail.com

Merry Christmas to all of you! 🙂

Orange Cupcakes

Next up is my personal favorite! I can never and I mean NEVER EVER get enough of tiramisu!
It’s no wonder tiramisu translates to “pick-me-up”. What a romantic dessert… Every time I eat it I always have this heart-warming feeling, like I feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. That’s how love makes one feel right? Haha…

Hello people!

Haven’t been updating in awhile again. School has started for awhile now and I’m on a 5 day ‘work’ week. Having to go school on every single can be such a chore. Haha! Well I think it’s because for the past few semesters, I was able to squeeze all my mods into 4days… oh well…

But I did find time to do some baking before the Chinese New Year break.
This year, Valentines’ Day and Chinese New Year happen to fall on the same day! Didn’t manage to accept any orders for V day cause I won’t be in SG. Nevertheless, I played around with some recipes and decorating of cakes to gift to my friends before I ‘flee the country’ 😛

These Molten Chocolate Babycakes are something new that I tried out. It has a ‘tough shell’ and a really soft and gooey center! It is also a warm chocolate dessert. My friends found it too rich though but it is something new 🙂

The following cupcakes below are my Valentines’ Special of the Nutella Brownie Cupcakes. Such a beauty aren’t they? 🙂 Pity Valentines’ fell on the same day as CNY, if not I would have much more time to bake these….

One of my good friend helped took some photos of my cakes with her pro camera! They look really good! What a pro Xiao Ying is! 😀 thank you so much girl!

I hope you all enjoyed your Valentines’ and Chinese New Year hols! 🙂

Christmas period have been busy busy busy…
but i am HAPPY 🙂

Christmas to me, is pass the time where it’s all just about the presents.
Christmas to me NOW, is more about meeting up with my loved ones and gathering with friends.
Although not many presents were exchanged or even no presents were exchanged, I felt that I was happier this year.

Maybe it was also due to the many positive feedbacks from the cakes I have sold to my friends.
Thank you all so much for not only supporting me throughout but also giving me honest feedbacks so that I am able to improve 😀

The long awaited post…

Posted in Uncategorized on October 18, 2009 by shelovestobake

I think it’s kinda sad when I look at when was my last post dated…
It’s been close to 2 months since I last posted!
The new semester marks my 2nd year in uni and it sure is getting tougher.
Workload piling high… and exams and tests almost every week!
I sure would like a break…

Anway, it has also been awhile since I last baked anything.
Orders has not been coming in til lately…

First up – The Birthday edition!

The new and improved, Chocolate Swirl Oreo Cheesecake. As you can see this looks vastly different from the version I made for my brother’s birthday (mentioned in the previous post). Same great taste but I’ve worked on the appearance of my cakes 🙂

And as usual, I made some extra cupcakes…

Feedback from my friends were that the cheese wasn’t overpowering so those who are not a great fan of cheese… NO WORRIES! 😀 They also loved the oreo and chocolate swirl in the cheesecakes, the former tasted like chocolate ice cream added into the cheesecakes!

I also baked a Strawberry Cheesecake for Francene’s birthday! – She’s my number one supporter! Always giving me opportunities 😀 thank you so much Francene! Francene’s also a strawberry lover thus…

This is also the new and improved version of the strawberry cheesecake I made previously. Looking at the first photo, it does make a good halloween cake doesn’t it? haha… Don’t worry no real blood was used, only home made strawberry sauce! 😀
As for the 2nd photo, I do regret a little for sprinkling the digestive biscuit crumbs on top of the cake. Made it look like chicken floss sprinkled on a sweet dessert. Imagine the taste of that!

Next up! Birthday Brownies for my friend – Melanie

And finally the Deepavali special…

It’s been really long since I baked cookies and am very happy to get great feedback for these! These cookies were very Chocolatey and soft on the inside! A sure hit with chocolate cookie loving guests 🙂

And this is what I’ve been up to for the past few weeks… Hope you all enjoyed the photos and the bakes for those of you who have tried them. Please feel free to leave your comments and feedbacks so that I can improve more! 😀 I’ll be more than happy to hear from you all! 🙂

Hope I’ll be posting here more often… till next time!

Baking and the flu bug…

Posted in Uncategorized on July 22, 2009 by shelovestobake

Hello all!

Haven’t been posting as I have fallen ill and thus haven’t been baking recently.

The flu virus is floating around in the air… plus the rising cases of H1N1, I guess everyone is feeling abit paranoid when someone sneezes or cough. Well, that is at least for me. After an incident that scared ‘the hell out of me’ at the end of last month, I bought Dettol hand sanitizer for everyone in the family. But oh well, sometimes the more you try to prevent something from happening, the more it happens to you.

I caught the flu bug which had me lying on my bed for close to a week. You may say one week does not seem to affect things much BUT that one week happens to coincide with my mother’s and bff’s birthday. So both of them spent their birthdays without my baked cakes. 😦 I’m so sorry! Does feel a bit disappointing ain’t it? Have been baking for friends’ birthdays and all but not for the birthdays of the closest people in my life. Oh well, I hope I can make it up to them soon!

Anyway, I managed to recover just before my brother’s birthday and just in time to prepare a cake for his party. Felt so excited just by the thought that so many people will be eating my cake! Was feeling quite nervous too and I couldn’t think of what to bake until my bro said he wanted Oreo Cheesecake.

So Viola…

Bro's Oreo Cheesecake

Gathered quite good reviews and am quite happy with the decorating too 😀

Again this marks the end of the July Babies celebration….

Once again, Happy Birthday to my dearest Mummy, Xin and Bro!

and to all out there under the attack of the flu bug… Get Well Soon!

Love!

Hey people,

I am here to update again 🙂 It’s been quite some time where you’ll see me blogging twice or more in a month huh? haha…

Well… I am quite excited to blog actually cause I made something new! Cupcakes which requires something that I haven’t been putting in my cakes for quite some time cause my cakes tend to always fail when I use it. The one ingredient that I have a love-hate relationship with…

CHOCOLATE.

I didn’t know June is a month filled with birthdays till I met the bunch of friends I have now. Usually, I only get super busy in July… Bff and her mom’s birthday, my mom and brother’s birthday… and they’re all important people in my life.

Well going back to my cupcakes. (pardon me as I often “jump thoughts”) I made them specially for my friend – Qing Ling’s birthday. A sweet friend of mine who just stays a few blocks away from mine. I only realised it was her birthday on the night before, thanks to facebook.

Here are some photos before I go on with my long-winded stories….

IMG_2270

IMG_2274

Really pretty ain’t it? Looking at them just makes me feel so happy! ( I hope it does the same to you to Qing Ling 😉 )

The cupcakes’ chocolaty flavor was really rich! Plus the nutella that I added… I believe this would definitely be a hit with chocolate lovers! 🙂

Anyway… I haven’t thought of a name for the cupcakes yet… why don’t you guys out there help me with it? Feel free to leave your comments! 🙂

I’ve thought of some names though… what about New york nutella cupcakes? cause the cherries simply reminds me of a really juicy and big red apple and the chocolate stick kinda look like a “high-rise building” eh? New York City is also called The Big Apple ya? But then I also feel it looks like some cocktail drink, doesn’t it? 😉

I hope you guys enjoyed the photos, I did put even more effort in my photography this time. right yh? haha…

LOVE!
